Street Specials MCC 2005 Rally news
2nd – 3rd July 2005
This years rally is again at Nuneaton Rugby Football Club, in Nuneaton. Surprisingly!
The facilities are good. The Guinness always goes down well, prices are fair, the kitchen will serve breakfast Saturday & Sunday morning, 9-11am. Bar closes at 11 both nights since it’s impossible to get late licenses around here. If you want to bring your own booze for after then, the Rugby club don’t mind. Although the bar area will close at half midnight, the loos & showers will be open all night.
Ticket prices are free for paid up members and their partners. Ticket prices for non-members are £10 per person. There’s no need to pre-book, just turn up on the day.
Basically the format for this years is more of a private party come bike show than a full blown bike rally. This was the preference of many members, who at the end of the day just want to meet fellow club members for the annual chin wag and get pissed etc. Guests are of course welcome, as is anyone with an interest in specials.
There will be no BBQ this year. If there is enough interest, the clubhouse will provide food, but we need to have some ideas of numbers before hand.
The show will be held on Saturday. Bikes will be lines up at around midday, with judging taking place at 3pm. Results will be announced at 4pm. Various trophies will be available for all the usual groups, exact details tbc!
Directions to site
From A5 M69 junction, take A5 north. Go over 2 roundabouts, then turn left at the traffic lights (with the Longshoots pub on the corner). At next roundabout turn left, next roundabout (cemetery is on left) turn right into the Attleborough Fields Industrial Estate. Take the first right turn and the rugby club is ahead.
The address is: Liberty Way, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, CV11 6RR. Multimap shortcut is http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?lat=52.5202&lon=-1.4431&scale=10000&icon=x
Site is open from 3pm Friday until about 3pm Sunday. The gates will be locked overnight to avoid gypo’s camping. The site is huge, approx 8 rugby pitches worth. Camping is free. There are some no-go areas which is basically the no.1 pitch which they use for league games.
Don’t forget to tell your mates and get them to come along. There will be silly games, various trophies for whatever we can think off, and there’ll be a yard of ale and a rubber chicken competition (no more clues!!!).
